Programs & Initiatives
Improving the visual appearance of Farmers Boulevard is the central work of our organization. We work toward this goal by conducting volunteer clean-up events, environmental stewardship programs, and by assisting property owners and business owners with renovation projects, energy efficiency improvements, and storefront facade redesign.
Farmers Boulevard CDC actively works to recruit new businesses and entrepreneurs to available spaces on Farmers Boulevard. Our goal is to reduce the storefront vacancies and to increase the overall vibrancy of the corridor. We want to improve the quality of services available in the community, including retail, fresh produce, dining, medical and professional services.
Arts & Culture
The local community of St. Albans, Queens, has a rich heritage of performing and visual arts. Farmers Boulevard CDC seeks to promote the arts by utilizing local musicians for live performances and showcases, and local artists for community mural projects, arts education initiatives, and art exhibitions on Farmers Boulevard.
With help from our network of partners Farmers Boulevard CDC conducts the type of consumer research that is valuable to business owners when making a decision about opening in a new neighborhood. We research and report on neighborhood demographics, spending patterns, food and dining preferences, and healthcare needs and concerns.
